Christian Dior: Designer of dreams

Un incredibile viaggio tra stili, tendenze e creazioni di alta moda che hanno fatto sognare e continuano a farlo. Non a caso, la mostra in questione ha un titolo che racchiude in se il suo senso più autentico: “Christian Dior: Designer of dreams”. Sino a settembre il Victoria and Albert Museum di Londra, nel cuore di  Knightsbridge, ospita questa affascinante esposizione. Dopo Parigi, è dunque la volta della capitale inglese che ha saputo rendere onore a uno degli stilisti più eclettici ed eleganti. Pizzo, tulle, seta e molto altro ancora, accuratamente suddivisi per epoche e colori. Particolare rilievo è attribuito ai vari direttori creativi che nel corso degli anni si sono susseguiti nella maison: da Yves Saint Laurent a Gianfranco Ferré, passando per John Galliano, fino a Maria Grazia Chiuri. Che Christian Dior sia stato un vero e proprio “creatore di sogni” è fuori discussione. E per immergersi in quella atmosfera di suggestioni e bagliori onirici basterà arrivare nella sala principale della mostra, dove, tra specchi e musica, con particolari effetti di luce, gli abiti esposti mostrano sfaccettature ogni volta diverse. Un sapore romantico che riporta indietro nel tempo rivive, poi, nella sala a metà percorso interamente rivestita di fiori che fa quasi respirare quelle fragranze riprodotte nelle preziose boccette di profumo custodite nelle bacheche. Gran  finale, l’intera collezione delle “icon bags”: dalla “saddle” alla “lady Dior”. Io non ho saputo resistere alla tentazione di ammirarle da vicino. E per chi proprio non riuscisse a farne a meno, basterà girare l’angolo fuori dalla mostra e raggiungere gli Harrods: qui il sogno può diventare realtà.

Not surprisingly, the exhibition in question has a title that embodies its most authentic meaning: “Christian Dior: Designer of dreams“. Until September, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, in the heart of Knightsbridge, hosts this fascinating exhibition. After Paris, it is therefore the turn of the English capital that has honored one of the most eclectic and elegant designers. Lace, tulle, silk and much more, carefully divided into periods and colors. Particular emphasis is given to the various creative directors who over the years have followed one another in the maison: from Yves Saint Laurent to Gianfranco Ferré, passing through John Galliano, up to Maria Grazia Chiuri. That Christian Dior was a real “creator of dreams” is out of the question. And to immerse yourself in that atmosphere of suggestions and dreamlike gleams you will only need to arrive in the main hall of the exhibition, where, between mirrors and music, with particular light effects, the exposed clothes show different facets every time. A romantic flavor that brings you back in time, then, in the room half-way entirely covered with flowers that almost makes you breathe those fragrances reproduced in the precious bottles of perfume kept on the notice boards. Grand finale, the entire collection of “icon bags“: from the “saddle” to the “lady Dior”. I could not resist the temptation to admire them closely. And for those who just could not do without it, just turn the corner outside the exhibition and reach the Harrods: here the dream can become reality.
