Princess power

Cosa sarebbe successo a Cenerentola se non fosse andata al ballo? E Biancaneve avrebbe mai trovato il suo principe se non avesse dato un morso alla mela? Come sarebbero andate invece le cose per Aurora se non si fosse avvicinata al fuso? Ammettiamolo, prima o poi tutte noi ce lo siamo chieste. Sin da piccole abbiamo fatto il tifo (e continuiamo a farlo) affinché quella scarpetta persa allo scoccare della mezzanotte potesse calzare alla perfezione al piede della legittima proprietaria. O che il bacio del vero amore destasse dal sonno più profondo in uno dei risvegli più romantici. Ebbene, ciò che accomuna queste antesignane eroine targate Disney è il coraggio di scegliere. È vero, per tutte  arriva il momento in cui la carrozza si trasforma in zucca, la mela si rivela un elisir mortale e l’arcolaio anziché dipanare complica ancor di più la matassa. Ma se nessuna di loro avesse deciso di correre un rischio, il lieto fine non ci sarebbe stato. Non dimentichiamoci di Ariel: ha sacrificato la sua voce per vivere sulla terra. E Rapunzel, che per un solo giorno fuori dalla torre ha messo a repentaglio la sua vita. Insomma, tutte ci hanno creduto e seppur con qualche difficoltà hanno fatto in modo che i sogni diventassero realtà. In ognuna di noi c’è un pizzico di loro quando ogni giorno facciamo una scelta. Certamente prima ci chiediamo se sia quella giusta ma poi chissà perché decidiamo comunque di buttarci a capofitto e di perseguirla sino in fondo, vada come vada. Sì, la realtà molto spesso è ben diversa dalle fiabe, ma non è detto che questo debba scoraggiare. Soprattutto se siamo convinte che a scrivere il finale dobbiamo essere noi. Ritengo che sia questa l’eredità più preziosa che la Disney ci consegna. Spetta a noi saperla attuare. E se siamo ancora in grado di credere fermamente che non importa se la carrozza è tornata zucca, se la mela non fosse poi così prelibata o il fuso così pericoloso, dal momento che ciò che conta è il motivo che ci ha portato sino a lì, allora davvero tutto è possibile. What would have happened to Cinderella if she hadn’t gone to the dance? And would Snow White ever find her prince if she hadn’t bitten the apple? How would things have gone for Aurora if she hadn’t gotten close to the spindle? Let’s face it, sooner or later we all asked ourselves. Since we were children we have been rooting (and we continue to do so) so that that shoe lost at the stroke of midnight could fit perfectly at the foot of the legitimate owner. Or that the kiss of true love aroused from the deepest sleep in one of the most romantic awakenings. Well, what unites these pioneering Disney brand heroines is the courage to choose. It is true, for all of them the moment arrives when the carriage turns into a pumpkin, the apple turns out to be a mortal elixir and instead of unraveling the spooler complicates the skein even more. But if none of them decided to take a risk, there would be no happy ending. Let’s not forget about Ariel: he sacrificed his voice to live on earth. And Rapunzel, who for a single day outside the tower put his life in danger. In short, they all believed in us and even with some difficulty they made their dreams come true. In each of us there is a pinch of them when we make a choice every day. Certainly first we wonder if it is the right one but then who knows why we decide to throw ourselves headlong anyway and pursue it to the end, go how it goes. Yes, reality is very often very different from fairy tales, but this does not have to discourage it. Especially if we are convinced that we have to write the ending. I believe that this is the most precious legacy that Disney gives us. It is up to us to know how to implement it. And if we are still able to firmly believe that it does not matter if the carriage has come back as a pumpkin, if the apple was not so delicious or the melt so dangerous, since what matters is the reason that brought us there, then really everything is possible.
